Wyoming offers different routes for a self-history check and a court file

Need Official route Coverage
Your own Wyoming/WIN criminal history Wyoming DCI ATS FAQ. Wyoming plus WIN states identified by DCI; not an FBI nationwide self-check.
Applicant check authorized by a statute/program Wyoming DCI Applicant Tracking System. Fingerprint applicant processing according to the authorizing purpose.
A circuit or district court filing Wyoming Judicial Branch access guidance. Public viewing at courthouse terminals/State Law Library; no general remote public filing access.

Prepare the DCI voluntary self-check as a fingerprint request

  1. 01
    Know the destination

DCI says the applicant is responsible for knowing where the background-check result should be sent. Write the recipient information before submission.

  2. 02
    Submit fingerprints

The voluntary Wyoming/WIN self-check is based on positive identification through fingerprints, not a public name search.

  3. 03
    Budget the published fees

DCI currently lists $15 for most Wyoming/WIN applicant history checks and a separate $5 fee when DCI performs the fingerprinting service.

  4. 04
    Allow for variable processing

The FAQ says many checks finish within about two weeks but fingerprint quality and workload can extend processing to several weeks.

A Wyoming/WIN result is not the FBI product

WIN coverage

The DCI FAQ lists Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington with Wyoming in the voluntary WIN check.

Nationwide personal access

The DCI background-check page says FBI rules do not permit DCI to conduct a nationwide history check for an individual merely for personal use. It directs that need to the FBI.

Court-file evidence

A DCI history and a court judgment are different records. If you need the words of a Wyoming order or disposition, use the court-access route instead of assuming the repository summary contains the complete filing.

Wyoming trial-court documents are a courthouse-access task

No general remote public download for circuit/district filings

The Wyoming eFiling access page states that public users cannot remotely access filings in circuit or district courts through that system. Public viewing is available at designated courthouse terminals and the State Law Library; the Judicial Branch FAQ also identifies PASS terminals at clerk offices.

Checklist for a result you can safely interpret

  • ✓
    Label the geography

Write “Wyoming/WIN” on a voluntary DCI result so no one later reads it as nationwide coverage.

  • ✓
    Keep the fingerprint basis visible

Positive identification is a core feature of the DCI route; do not rewrite it as a name-only web search.

  • ✓
Use the court for a particular judgment

If a repository entry names a case but the outcome is unclear, locate the filing court and inspect/request the court record.

  • ✓
Correct inaccurate Wyoming entries through DCI

The ATS FAQ provides the official correction path for Wyoming criminal-history information. Do not silently discard a disputed entry.

Choose the product by the question, not by which website is easiest

For personal Wyoming/WIN history, the fingerprint-based DCI route is the public destination. For a nationwide personal FBI summary, use the FBI channel identified by DCI. For the wording of a Wyoming circuit or district court filing, use courthouse public access or the clerk. Keeping those three tasks separate prevents a limited-scope record from being presented as broader than it is.
